TAX INCENTIVES URGED FOR GIVING

The Community Foundation Hawke’s Bay is urging the Government to increase tax incentives next year for those who give money to charity.

 New administrator appointed

The Community Foundation (HB) has appointed a Havelock North woman, Janice Gilmour, as its new administrator. Mrs Gilmour replaces the former administrator, Mr Tony Bryan, who is concentrating on his new role as Assistant District Governor for Rotary District 992.

$5000 TO BACK-UP

The Community Foundation (HB) recently gave $5000 to Back-Up New Zealand, which will hold a ball and charity auction fundraiser at Pukeora Estate in Waipukurau on August 12. The foundation, formerly known as the Transfusion Foundation, made the donation as part of its philosophy to target identified needs in the region with project-based funding, guidance or mentoring.

Pleas for assistance through The Community Foundation of Hawke’s Bay amounted to more than $186,000 in the financial year ending March 31, 2006.

The Community Foundation (HB) has its genesis in its predecessors, Transfusion Foundation and the Hawke’s Bay Health Trust. The board of The Community Foundation (HB) acknowledges the support and encouragement it has had on the path to the present important structure.

A grand start

The most significant development of the year was the transformation of Transfusion from a health trust to a fully-fledged community foundation. There is potential for a wide impact over the whole of Hawke’s Bay.Transfusion is now a philanthropic non-profit trust which enables everyone to win.
