Hawke’s Bay given important new role Print E-mail

Hawke’s Bay’s community foundation has been appointed the fully-fledged funding manager for The Tindall Foundation.

Funding managers are regarded by Tindall as partners in philanthropy. They are provided with bulk funds from Tindall primarily to pass on to other organisations and programmes. This amounts to many thousands of dollars annually in Hawke’s Bay.

The funding is distributed to initiatives that meet Tindall’s criteria, just as other funds we distribute could be to your criteria.

Volunteers Gather in Wellington Print E-mail

Six members of the Community Foundation (HB) joined volunteers from 11 NZ foundations in Wellington to learn more about encouraging generosity in their region.

Retired chemist Peter Dunkerley, Havelock North, led the HB team. Others were former HB coroner Warwick Holmes, Napier; Paul Harris Rotary fellow Di Petersen, Waipukurau; opthalmolgist David Sabiston, Taradale; James Morgan, Twyford; and Janice Gilmour, Havelock North.

New Zealand’s community foundations provide a vehicle for people to give effectively to their community ̶. to "give where they live".

This is one of the fastest growing forms of philanthropy internationally.

Workshop speakers included the Melbourne Community Foundation CEO Sarah Davies and Wellington fundraising expert Kitty Hilton.  The Tindall Foundation and JR McKenzie Trust funded the workshop, to encourage the foundations to work together to provide resources that will make a lasting difference in their communities.

Special to foodbanks & budgeting services Print E-mail

Newspaper reports record a 50% increase in demand for food parcels and budgeting services ̶ to middle-class families in particular.

Accordingly, the Tindall Foundation has granted an additional $5000 toward their programme of supporting families and social services in Hawke’s Bay.

In distributing these funds, the Community Foundation (HB) will favour organisations catering for both urgent needs and those helping people to re-arrange their affairs to avoid needing this support.
